The West African Health Organization (WAHO), a specialised institution of ECOWAS, has officially opened recruitment for the strategic position of:Professional Officer for Information and Communication Technology and Documentation (Grade P4)

Location: New WAHO Headquarters (relocating from Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso to another ECOWAS Member State – to be confirmed)
Number of positions: 1
Annual Salary: USD 44,965.64 – USD 52,379.70 (plus benefits, allowances, and expatriation package)
This is a senior ICT leadership role with strong components in digital strategy, cybersecurity, data protection (GDPR-type compliance), IT project management, and documentation/archiving.Who Can Apply?

  • Citizens of any of the 15 ECOWAS Member States (Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, Benin, Togo, Niger, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, Cabo Verde, Burkina Faso)
  • Maximum age: 45 years at the time of recruitment

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems Management, Business Systems Analysis & Design, or any ICT-related field from a recognised university
  • Master’s degree in any of the above fields is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive professional experience in planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of information and communication systems
  • Proven experience in ICT strategy, IT project management, data protection, and information systems security
  • Excellent knowledge of enterprise systems (experience with SAP/ECOLINK is a strong advantage)
  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills
  • Fluency in one of the three ECOWAS official languages (English, French, or Portuguese). Working knowledge of a second one is an asset.

Key Responsibilities (Highlights)

  • Design and lead WAHO’s Digital Transformation Strategy and Information Systems
  • Manage IT infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, and data protection compliance
  • Act as WAHO’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) – ensure GDPR-type compliance across the region
  • Supervise the Webmaster/Network Administrator and the Documentation & Archives Officer
  • Manage the full lifecycle of IT projects (from specifications to go-live)
  • Maintain hardware/software inventory and manage the SAP/ECOLINK platform
  • Develop and test Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Plans
  • Organize training for staff on new IT solutions
  • Serve as the primary contact with regulatory authorities on data protection matters
