Job Summary
Under the Head of Conferences, Protocol and Language Services Division, you will:
- Translate and certify high-level technical, legal, medical and policy documents into flawless English
- Revise translations done by colleagues and freelance translators
- Build and manage terminology databases of translators, glossaries and terminology across the region
- Use and maintain CAT tools, machine translation and on-screen editing software
- Help select, train and evaluate external translators
- Maintain WAHO’s interpretation & translation equipment inventory
Who Can Apply?
- Citizens of any ECOWAS Member State only
- Maximum age: 45 years at the time of recruitment
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation from a recognised university
- A Master’s degree in Translation is highly recommended if your Bachelor’s is in another field
- Minimum 7 years of professional translation and editing experience
- At least 2 years as a proofreader/reviser
- Perfect command of translation software (Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast, etc.), CAT tools, machine translation and terminology management systems
- Excellent writing, analytical and stylistic skills in English
- Fluency in French OR Portuguese is a strong advantage (WAHO works in all three official languages)
