Nursing Training College, Wa Hosts Maiden Graduation Ceremony After 18 Years

The Nursing Training College, Wa (NTC, Wa), a premier institution in Ghana’s Upper West Region, is set to make history by hosting its first-ever graduation ceremony on 27th February 2024. This landmark event marks a significant shift for the college, which has trained thousands of nurses since its establishment in 2006 but never formally celebrated its graduates’ achievements. For the first time, past and present students will gather to receive institutional certificates, complementing the mandatory Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) licensure.

Why This Graduation Matters

  • 18 Years in the Making: Since its inception in 2006, NTC, Wa has produced skilled nurses who have contributed to Ghana’s healthcare system. However, graduates were only awarded the NMC licensure certificate after passing exams, with no formal recognition from the school itself.
  • A New Era of Recognition: The maiden graduation will honor all past students who successfully completed their programs, alongside the immediate past cohort. Attendees will receive a dual certification—the NMC license and an official NTC, Wa certificate—enhancing their professional credentials.
  • Strengthening Alumni Pride: The ceremony aims to foster a sense of community, pride, and institutional loyalty among graduates, many of whom now work in hospitals nationwide.
