Lost in Translation: Friend Forgets Goat’s Name in Waali Dialect After Travelling Abroad”
Traveling abroad can be an exhilarating experience, opening one’s eyes to new cultures, cuisines, and ways of life. But for my friend, Alhassan Abdul Waris, Porpularly known as Abodie, it also led to some unexpected confusion and hilarity.
Abodie had the opportunity to visit the United Kingdom recently, and he never hesitated to share his tales of adventure and discovery. But one post on social media caught everyone’s attention.
In his excitement, Abodie had claimed that he had forgotten the name of a common animal in our Waali dialect – the goat. How could someone forget the name of an animal they grew up with and heard spoken every day? It was hilarious, and people on social media were quick to share their amusement.
Of course, we all knew that Abodie was joking, but it did highlight the challenges and differences one can experience when traveling abroad. It can be easy to forget the things that are familiar to us, and we can find ourselves lost in translation.
Abodie’s misadventure gave us all a good laugh and reminded us that even in the midst of cultural differences, humor and laughter can bring us together. And as for the goat, well, its name in the Waali dialect will always be familiar to us, no matter where we travel.
